Cause and effect is a developing skill that begins around 8 months and progresses through preschool. Elephant Toothpaste 🐘 is a classic experiment with a fantastic effect that will amaze your toddler or preschooler (unless your child is like mine, who was quite distraught that it overflowed 😂). ••••• You'll need: dry active yeast, water, bottle, dish soap, hydrogen peroxide 1️⃣ Combine 1 tsp dry active yeast into 2 Tbsp very warm water. Mix well. 2️⃣ Add 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide (6% works best) onto a very narrow bottle. 3️⃣ Place a few drops of liquid watercolor and a few squirts of dish soap (do not use antibacterial soap). 4️⃣ Pour the yeast mixture into the bottle using a funnel. Remove the funnel quickly to observe the reaction. ••••• 👩🏻‍🏫 Note: While an adult should handle pouring the hydrogen peroxide. Once the reaction occurs, the peroxide is broken down and leaves behind water and oxygen (completely safe to touch). ••••• This activity requires adult supervision. . . #kidsplaytricks #toddlerfun #sahmlife #kidsactivities #learningthroughplay #earlylearning #handsonlearning #kidsactivity #playandlearn #montessori #preschool #preschoolactivities #preschoolteacher #preschoolathome #preschooler #preschoolisfun #preschoolteachers #scienceforkids #sciencefortoddlers #scienceforchildren #insideplay #montessoriplayinside #montessoriplayandlearn #diy #diyprojects #handsonplay #playathome #momlife #educationalactivities
